Sketches, Sketches Everywhere!!!

Happy Sunday!

Boy was it a beautiful one here. Temps were in the fifties, there was only a slight breeze and most important of all the sun was shining bright! Yeah! All in all a lovely day.

I was able to get a few cards made today and head to Michaels to use my coupon. I am so addicted to that store. I always manage to find something there. This time I got a new edge punch with my 40% off coupon so that was fantabulous!!!

Izzy has been a busy bee today too! She has been wearing her new winter coat all day, and of course it is a little too warm outside for her to really wear it. That doesn't seem to stop her. I guess she is already learning the sentiment about being fashionable is sometimes painful. She actually tried on one of my high heeled shoes this morning, but she got mad at it because she couldn't walk in it. It was one of my four inch heels that hasn't seen my feet since before I was pregnant and will probably never see them again. Maybe next time she will try a little shorter heel. I mean, a kitten heel really would of been a better choice with what she was wearing anyway! lol!

Oh and I almost forgot, she is completely into make up now. Don't tell Jason, but I did dab her lips with a little bit of lipstick the other day. She loves to take my eyeliners and lip liners and run them over her lashes like mascara. (The caps are on, thank goodness!) I don't do that, but it doesn't seem to matter. She also likes to run the lipstick (cap on) over her nose. Who knows what her face would look like if the caps were off!! Scary thought!

Okay onto the card for today! Sketch challenges was definitely the theme for today. Honestly though I was trying to make a card that incorporated buttons and wasn't able to do so in any of the cards I created. I just don't know what happened. Oh well! On to my first card for today. I wanted to give a try to the new Sketch Challenge group's weekly sketch challenge over at Paper Craft Planet. The sketch they created is supposed to have a sentiment as your main image. Since I don't have any large sentiment stamps I decided to use my brand new Paper Pretties stamp I received in the mail instead. I used the coordinating sentiment to stamp down the side.

I really like this card. It just feels like Christmas should. (Jason, I need to start making Christmas cards now so that I can have them all made before Christmas). I started this card by stamping Sophie from Trim the Tree, which is November's Paper Pretties Stamp of the Month. I then stamped the sentiment down the side three times. I colored her in using my copics and stampin write markers. From there, I hand drew the floor and the Christmas tree and colored them in. I added some pearl stickers to the tree for garland and some pearl stickers in between the sentiments. I then made a few filigrees with my gold glitter pen. Following the sketch, I layered on red card stock, green card stock and Christmas DP. To achieve the tone on tone effect for the background, I used my swirl cuttlebug folder and then went over the swirls with a versamark pen. I popped off the main image and added a green snowflake and a red snowflake I cut out with my Cricut machine. The final white snowflake in the center is one I punched out with my Martha Stewart punch. I think this image is so sweet. I can't wait to use her again.

Onward and upward! The second card for today is a winter card I tell you! Okay, maybe it has hints of Christmas, but that is my story and I am sticking too it. So, my M.O. is that when I see a sketch that I want to try for the week I leave it up on my computer as a separate tab. As you can imagine, by the end of the week there are a million tabs up, all stretched out across my screen. I won't even tell you the panic that sets in if I think that the computer might shut down! Well this is a sketch I have had up since Thursday! It is this week's MFT Sketch challenge and once I saw it, I knew I had the perfect stamp.

I love the non traditional colors on this card! I started this card by stamping the main image from Baby It's Cold Outside by MFT stamps on a piece of white card stock and a piece of DP (okay, I'll admit it, it was Christmas DP). I paper pieced the girl together and colored in the rest of the image using my copics and markers. I created the snow with my souffle pen. Then, following the sketch I layered on blue and brown card stock with DP. I popped off the main image and added pink ribbon to each side. I stamped the sentiment from Home for the Holidays by MFT. I mounted it on a piece of blue card stock and added brown brads to either end. I like the "winter" not Christmas feel to it.

Alright so here is my last card and it is my favorite. I just love the colors. I am so glad that I have this DP. Of course I don't have that many more sheets of it, which always seems to happen when I find DP that I love. This card was created using Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge, which at first I thought was going to be difficult for me, but actually came out really well.

I don't know what it is, but I just love these rich colors! Okay, so I started this card off by stamping Sitting With Bear by Sugar Nellies on a piece of white card stock and coloring her in with my copics and markers. Then following the sketch, I layered her on brown, green and teal card stock. For the rest of the card, I used brown, green and teal card stock with some DP. For texture I ran my teal card stock through my swirl cuttlebug folder and added a green with white stitching piece of ribbon. I finished the card off by adding two brown brads to the corner. I am just really pleased with the way this card turned out. I think I might give it to my niece.

Thanks again for stopping by today and thank you to everyone who stops by and visits and leaves comments. You make my day! Have a great rest of the weekend!
