Elections, Turkeys and Christmas, A Crazy Combination!

Happy Wednesday everybody!!!!

Today has been a crazy, busy day for me. This is my second post for today so if you are just stopping in please scroll down for the first post.

Well last night was certainly exciting wasn't it? We stayed up for a little while and watched the results and when I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom I snuck in and turned on the TV to see the results. What an exciting time in our country! It is truly neat to be a part of history! I kind of wish Izzy was older so she would remember, but oh well. She did go to the poles yesterday though! She is already learning how to be a responsible citizen.

Well who else gets a kick out of watching the election night coverage? Jason and I were cracking up the whole time. They have so much time to fill, but really not enough action to fill it with. One of my favorites from last night was when they put some state up on the screen and were talking about how it was "too close to call." There weren't even any districts reporting their results yet. Yeesh! I really laughed over that one. My neighbor, Beth, said that her and her husband got a kick out of one of the poor reports who was at the Obama rally and kept saying, "I can tell by the crowd noise/music playing/activity that he is about ready to come out." Beth said he said that same thing every five minutes for well over an hour! I just love it! It truly is must watch tv.

Which brings me to my first card for today. I used the Bella sketch challenge over at SCS and the StoobyTuesday Challenge which was to use a Bella image to create a red, white and blue card.



This is so totally me last night! Minus the chocolate and junk food. I never eat junk food! I mean I am a total health addict! I workout at Curves you know! (Heavy sarcasm inserted here! lol!) I love this stamp PMSabella by Stamping Bella. This is exactly what I feel like doing every night! Well I started this card off by stamping Bella and coloring her in with my stampin' write markers and copics. I then cut her out using my nesties and mounted her on a red scalloped circle. I then cut out some DP and placed it on the blue card space. Next, I cut out stars; three reds, three blues and three DP ones in three different sizes. I substituted the stars for the circles in the sketch down the side and popped them off. Next I added a white ribbon that I threaded through the middle star. I popped off the main image and added the sentiment I printed off the computer to each of the circles. I went ahead and gave it to Beth and she said, "The girl must be blonde if she is asking who won." I hadn't even thought of that! But that makes it even funnier!

My second card today is for the wonderful challenge that my fellow MFT ambassador and this month's MFT Favorite Stamper, Candice put out on SCS for the release party tonight. Her challenge was to create a Christmas card using non-Christmas stamps. For some reason turkeys popped into my brain. (No idea where that came from.) Then I started to think of my favorite cartoonist, Gary Larson and his Far Side Cartoons and this is what I came up with.


I think it is funny. I can just see little turkeys dreaming of having a more important job for Thanksgiving that just being dinner! I started off this card by stamping the turkey from Falling for You by MFT nine times and coloring them in with my makers. I then adhered them together and added some brown paper to make it look like they were in mid flight. Lastly, I added a red pearl to the nose of the first turkey to make him "Turkey Rudolph"! To create the scene. I started off with a piece of white card stock and layered on brocade blue, bordering blue and night of navy with a sponge. I then cut out a circle using my nesties and sponged on barely banana and apricot appeal to make the moon. I then cut it into a crescent and placed it in the sky and added some silver glitter pen and rhinestones to create stars. For the houses I cased Candice's example and stamped the house from Monster Squad on green, red and brown. I then shaded them in with my copics and added some black fencing to the top that I punched out with my Martha Stewart fence punch. I used my goo punch to create the snow and added a touch of glitter and white gel pen. To complete the scene I popped of the flying Turkeys. To assemble the card, I followed today's sketch challenge at SCS and layered Christmas DP, and red and green card stock. I printed off the sentiment at the bottom and attached two antique brass brads. I just know this is what turkeys think. At lease I think it is funny. lol!
