Happy Wednesday everyone!
Thank you so much for all the lovely comments I have received. I feel back to normal and am completely refreshed. I have been stamping up a storm and slowly getting back into my routine.
Well, someone who's tummy definitely doesn't hurt in my household is Izzy. OMG, the last week or so it has been like she is a bottomless pit. She is eating constantly. I assume she must be going through a growth spurt. The other morning, when I got her out of bed, the first words out her mouth were, "cereal", followed shortly by, "egg, grapes, cracker, waffles, apple". I guess she was a little hungry.
Yesterday we had so much fun together. We did some stamping and coloring of course, then we read books and played in her play kitchen. I can't believe how quickly she is growing up. Sometimes I turn around and it is almost as if she is a little girl! Tearing up!!!
Okay, enough, onto the good stuff, THE CARDS!!! Well since it is Wednesday, that means it is Watchadoin' Wednesday over at SUInk and More!! I am so excited, this is one of my favorite challenges to do, but now I get to play as a DT member!! So today's challenge was to create a "love" themed card that is not the typical 5 1/2" by 4 1/4". It can be different in size, shape, folds, etc. Since I have been dying to create a Squash Book after seeing the tutorial in last week's Try A New Technique Challenge over at SCS, I knew I had the perfect project!!

Isn't this the coolest card ever!!! Thank you so much Lynn for the wonderful tutorial it was so easy to follow! Alrighty, this card reminds me of my husband and how much he loves me. No matter how many times I ask him to make me a hot chocolate, he always does it. Even if he is tired or busy he always stops what he is doing and makes me one!! Isn't he the greatest? So I started this card by using my new Core'dinations card stock pack called Chocolate Box!!! It is so fantastic. The core is a coordinating color. In this case the chocolate brown card stock I used has a maroon core!! Perfect for my project!!! I used the chocolate card stock and folded it according to the tutorial on SCS. I then cut out DP and covered all of the exposed areas. I mounted my squash book on a piece of brown and maroon Core'dinations card stock that I adhered some DP too along with a coordinating brown and pink stitched ribbon. I added three brown brads in two corners. To complete the book, I stamped the hot cocoa image from Sweet Things by SUInk and More, colored it in with my markers and copics and mounted it on a pieces of brown and maroon card stock along with a piece of DP. I cut them all out with my nesties. For the sentiment on the inside, I stamped it on white card stock and then cut it out with my labels nesties die. I cut out a larger brown label and turned it on it's side. I added some pink gem stickers to the inside of the card and a row at the bottom of the card. I love this idea, I am so glad I found the tutorial!
My second card today is for a contest being held over at Pink Cat Studio! The wonderful Melissa is offering up a chance to win a set from PCS including the two new sets that will be released on the 15th of January!!! OMG, they are so cute!! You are definitely going to want these! I don't know how Melissa keeps coming up with such great ideas, but she does!!! Anywhoo, to have a chance to win, all you need to do is visit the Pink Cat Studio blog, download the adorable Lily image, make a card and post a comment linking to the card you created. (Please make sure you link your card on the Pink Cat blog!).
Didn't I tell you she is adorable!!! I am secretly hoping that Melissa goes ahead and expands this line and makes lots of little Fairy Lilys!!! They are just too cute!! For the layout of this card, I used MJ's, aka Technostamper's, Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge. I slightly altered the shapes because I really wanted to use my new label nesties!! I started this card off by printing off Lily on some white card stock and then colored her in using my copics and markers. I added lots of glitter pen, because what is a fairy without some sparkle. I then cut her out with my labels nestie. Following the sketch, I layered on orange, grey and black card stock along with several types of DP that I cut out with my nesties. To finish the card, I cut out some orange circles and mounted some pewter flower brads in the middle of each! Please be sure to enter the contest, it is going to be a lot of fun! I can't wait to see what you create!
Well, I better sign off! Thanks again for everyone's lovely comments!! Have a great rest of the day and thanks for stopping by!

Hey Janna,
ReplyDeleteI bet I can figure this card out without the tutorial. I taught my stampers class how to do books like these for one of our Clubs last year.
We used either 5, 7, or 9 pages glued together and it folds up like a little book, then you put patterned paper on one of the little triangles, and on the catty corner a stamp and color it, then all the other pieces are used for putting pictures in. I made them with Halloween pictures for all the Grandma's so they could have a little Halloween book of pictures of the kids the last 6 Halloween's.
This card is very pretty I love it!!!!
What Tutorial did you do for it was it a challenge???
